Extra Warmth & Better Temperature Control

Our garden rooms are built using 100mm (or 150mm) SIP panels, which already provides excellent insulation and makes the space comfortable to use all year round. That said, some customers choose to go a step further with optional insulation upgrades to maximise warmth and reduce energy costs.

These upgrades are all about making your garden room work better for how you plan to use it, whether that’s as a garden office, a self-contained annexe, a man cave or whatever else.

If you want your garden room to feel cosy in winter and avoid overheating in summer, additional insulation can really help.

It allows the space to hold heat for longer, meaning less reliance on heaters and more consistent temperatures throughout the day and night. This also means:

– Lower heating costs

– Rooms warm up quickly and stay warm

– Comfortable use throughout the colder months

This will ensure your garden room is suitable for year-round usage

Stone Wool Insulation and Available Upgrades

At Green Leaf, we typically use non-combustible stone wool insulation as standard. This is a high performance, non-combustible material commonly used in residential construction.

However, if you really want the highest level of built-in insulation, we also offer an upgrade from standard 100mm SIP panel construction to 150mm SIP panels. Thicker SIPs will offer even better thermal efficiency and sound reduction also, helping your garden room to feel even warmer, quieter and solid.

During your free site survey we’ll discuss how you plan to use your garden room and recommend whether additional insulation or thicker SIP panels will genuinely benefit you and your build.

Garden Room Insulation FAQs

What is stone wool insulation and why is it used?

Stone wool is a high-performance insulator material made from natural stone. It is widely used in construction because of how well it insulates spaces both large and small.

It is also non-combustible, which makes it an exceptionally safe and comfortable option.

Is the standard insulation suitable for year-round use?

Yes, the combination of SIP construction and stone wool insulation makes your garden room suitable for use in all seasons, keeping your space warm in winter and comfortable in summer.

Will extra insulation reduce my heating costs?

Yes, additional insulation will help your room to hold heat for longer. This means your heaters and radiators won’t need to work as hard. Over time, this can noticeably reduce running costs.

Does additional insulation help with soundproofing?

Extra insulation will help improve sound reduction due to its acoustic muffling properties. This will help limit noise escaping the room and reduce external noise coming in also.

Is stone wool insulation fire-resistant?

Yes, the stone wool insulation we use is non-combustible and offers excellent fire resistance, adding an extra layer of safety to your garden room. This compliments our usage of fire rated material sheeting, which comes as standard for all garden rooms and SIP extensions.

Will thicker insulation reduce the internal room size?

Choosing to have proper insulation will not result in any noticeable reduction in usable space. Insulation upgrades are designed to improve performance without compromising the internal layout of your build.
