Our garden rooms and SIP extensions are finished with a high-quality EPDM rubber roofing system as standard, providing a long-lasting, fully watertight solution designed for minimal maintenance and maximum protection.

EPDM is one of the most reliable flat and low-pitch roofing materials, making it perfect for modern garden buildings and extensions.

What is EPDM Rubber Roofing?

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) is a durable synthetic rubber membrane designed specifically for roofing. It’s flexible and weather-resistant and is installed in a single continuous sheet to reduce the risk of leaks and weak points.

We use EPDM rubber roofing as standard on our garden buildings, as it’s perfectly suited to both our flat and pent roof designs. It gives your garden room a clean, contemporary finish while offering excellent protection from the elements, all at a more cost-effective price point than traditional timber or tiled roofing.

EPDM also works seamlessly with our integrated uPVC fascias, soffits and guttering, as well as our optional roof overhangs and canopy extensions, creating a durable, well-finished roofline that looks great and performs reliably year after year.

EPDM Rubber Roofing FAQs

How long does an EPDM roof last?

When installed correctly, in a continuous sheet, your EPDM rubber roof can last for more than 30 years without needing replacement. Its flexibility and resistant to weathering make it one of the longest-lasting roofing materials available for flat and pent roofs.

Is EPDM better than felt roofing?

In most cases, yes. EPDM is more durable, longer-lasting and less prone to cracking or blistering than traditional felt.

Does an EPDM roof require maintenance?

EPDM will require very little maintenance over time. Occasional visual checks and keeping the roof clear of debris is usually all that’s needed. EPDM doesn’t require re-coating or regular treatment.

Can EPDM be used on both flat and pent roofs?

Yes, EPDM is suitable for both flat and pent roof designs, which is why we use it as standard across our garden buildings.

Is EPDM waterproof?

Yes, EPDM forms a fully watertight membrane once installed, protecting your buildings from water ingress and leaks.

Does EPDM work with roof overhangs and canopies

EPDM integrates easily with roof overhands and canopy extensions, allowing for extended rooflines without compromising weather protection.

Will the EPDM roof fade or crack over time?

EPDM is highly resistant to UV exposure and UK temperature changes. This means it will not crack, split or fade in the way traditional roofing materials can.
