Electrical Installations – First and Second Fix

All electrical work for your garden building is installed as desired. From lighting and sockets to data points and heaters, everything is planned and installed as part of a structured first and second fix electrical process.

We can design an electrical setup around your needs, during the planning phase with all works carried out by qualified professionals and installed in-line with current UK regulations.

First Fix Electrical Installations

The first fix stage takes place once the main structure is complete but before internal plastering begins. At this point, all wiring and back boxes are installed within the walls, ceilings and floors.

First fix typically includes:

– Electrical cabling run throughout the building

– Socket and switch back boxes positioned

– Lighting cables installed

– Provision for heaters, data points or appliances

– Any required external lighting or power feeds

Second Fix Electrical Installations

Garden room used as a beauty salon

Once we finish plastering and your surfaces are fully finished, we move on to the second fix. This is where all visibility fittings are installed and the space is made fully functional.

Second fix typically includes:

– Sockets and switches fitted

– Light fittings installed

– Heaters connected (if included)

– Final testing and commissioning

The final result will be a clean and modern garden building interior with no exposed wiring and a layout that works practically for day-today, year-round use.

Electrical Installation FAQs

Can I choose where sockets and lights are placed?

Yes, all sockets, lights, switches and the like are planned around how you’ll use the space.

We determine these locations during the planning process, where learn what you want to use your garden building for, as well as size specifications and other optional extra inclusions.

Are all cables hidden behind the walls?

Yes, where possible, all wiring is concealed within the plastering on your walls, ceilings and floors during the first fix stage.

Can I add extra sockets or lighting later on?

While it’s always best to plan electrics in advance, additional sockets or fittings can be added once the plastering has finished. However, we do recommend finalising your electrical layout during planning for the cleanest results.

Can you install heating as part of the electrical work?

Yes, as an optional extra, we can install electric heaters. These can be wired neatly and positioned to suit the layout of your room.
